Expanded metal is often referred to as diamond punched, stretched metal or security mesh. Due to its method of manufacture,expanded metal is one of the most economical steel mesh, or grating material, on the market.

Expanded Metal is produced from solid sheets or plates of carbon, galvanized and stainless steel, as well as aluminum and a variety of alloys of copper, nickel, silver, titanium and other metals. Because expanded metal is made from a solid sheet of metal, and it is not woven or welded - it can never unravel.

Styles of Expanded Metal

Regular (standard or raised) – all expanded metal is produced in regular form off the expandeds. The strands and bonds are set at a uniform angle to the plane of the sheet. This gives added strength and rigidity, as well as a skid resistant surface.

Flattened – is manufactured by processing regular expanded metal in a rolling mill. The rolling process reduces the thickness of the original base metal.
