Turbine Flowmeter
Fluid entering the meter first passes through an inlet flow straightened that reduces its turbulent flow pattern. Fluid then passes through the turbine, causing the turbine to rotate at a speed proportional to fluid velocity. As each turbine blade passesthrough the magnetic field generated by the meter's magnetic pickup, an AC voltage pulse is generated. These pulses provided an output frequency that is proportional to volumetric flow.
The turbine wheel is mounted on the main shaft, with special high precision, low friction ball bearings. The turbine wheel has helical blades that have know angle relative to the gas flow. The conditioned and accelerated gas drivers the turbine wheel with an annular velocity that is proportional with the gas velocity.
