The Old Standard EN 15194:2009 + a 12011 lapsed on 28 February 2019, and the new standard EN 15194:2017 was subsumed into the harmonized standard adopted as the CE-certified Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The new standard specifies that e-bikes should be designed in accordance with the EN 12100 standard, taking into account the associated potential hazards. EN15194 is composed of three parts: Mechanical Safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electrical safety.
