Dumping type converter can not only be used for aluminum smelting and recovery, but also widely used in other non-ferrous metals, such as copper, lead, zinc and other common non-ferrous metals recycling. Since the 90's of last century, the dumping converter is not only accelerating to replace the reverberator, but also to replace the fixed converter at a faster rate. In the early stage, this substitution is mainly to reduce the amount of slagging salt. The reduction of the amount of slagging salt not only saves energy, reduces emissions, but also reduces the cost.
The consumption of waste aluminum smelting in conventional reflector is about 1000KW /t, which is about 100Nm³/t natural gas or 100L/t petroleum. Using the dump converter can save 25%. The decrease of energy consumption is mainly due to the significant improvement of heat transfer in converter and the double channel arrangement of burner, and the waste heat in flue gas is recovered in large quantities.
Compared with the reverberator, the dump converter can hold a much wider range of waste, from low grade slag, chips, cans to high quality process waste can be effectively melted. Therefore, recycled aluminum enterprises can smelt higher grade or even high quality recycled aluminum from low grade waste materials to obtain good economic benefits. Low - quality scrap such as chip and slag cannot be smelted with reverberator.
