In the process of railway transportation production, except the arrival, departure, passing and operation of the train in the station, all purposeful movements of rolling stock are collectively referred to as shunting. For the purpose of disassembling and marshalling trains, removing and hanging, transferring, whole yard, transferring, taking and sending vehicles, as well as locomotive alignment, transfer, entrance and exit sections, etc., the locomotive and vehicle shall move on the station line or other lines. It is one of the basic contents of railway operation.
Shunting can be divided into: ① disassembling the shunting, and disassembling the vehicles in the train or train set to the shunting in each designated line according to certain requirements (such as heavy vehicle according to the direction, empty vehicle according to the vehicle type, bad vehicle according to the maintenance location, etc.). ② for marshalling and shunting, the vehicles shall be arranged into trains or train groups according to relevant regulations. ③ shunting of pick-up and drop-off vehicles is to supplement axle, reduce axle, change Trailer group or pick-up and drop-off vehicles. ④ pick up, deliver and transfer vehicles to the operation site for the purpose of loading and unloading goods or maintenance vehicles. In addition, there are shunting such as transfer of trains and train sets, inspection and balance of freight cars, sorting of vehicles in the yard, and release of locomotives on station lines.

(1) when the locomotive is not fully relieved, it is not allowed to add load (except in special cases).
(2) during operation or before the locomotive stops stably, reversing operation is strictly prohibited.
(3) each safety protection device and supervision measuring instrument of locomotive shall not be cut (dismantled) blindly or its action parameter value shall be adjusted arbitrarily. After the action of protective appliances or devices (such as oil pressure, water temperature, grounding, overcurrent, diesel engine over speed, crankcase over pressure, etc.), it is forbidden to start the machine blindly or cut off various protective devices before the cause is determined.
(4) it is not allowed to stop the diesel engine and air compressor during the waiting period, and the headlights shall be weakened or turned off at night.
(5) during the attached operation, the direction of the commutator shall be the same as that of the train, the main contactor shall be in the off position, and the electrical action test is strictly prohibited.
(6) the train set connected with air duct shall be braked with self valve first. When the speed is reduced enough to control the coupling speed with single valve, the single valve operation shall be used again.
(7) when pushing forward the coupling operation, master the speed according to the distance signal of ten, five and three vehicles; when towing the coupling operation, it is better to stop at 1-2 m from the coupling vehicle and then hook up.
(8) pay attention to the operation when pushing the fish back and downhill lines. The single valve brake shall not be too fast or too strong.
(9) when using the radio flat light display shunting command system for shunting, the monitoring device shall be in shunting state, and the operation shall be carried out according to the requirements of signal display and language prompt.
(10) when the intermediate station uses its own locomotive for shunting, the contents and precautions of shunting operation notice with schematic diagram must be clear. Before operation, the monitoring device shall be in shunting state. We must strictly implement the relevant provisions of shunting operation in the technical regulations.
