IntroductionInconel is a group of austenitic nickel-chromium-based super alloys produced by Special Metals Corporation. Super alloys are referred to as high performance alloys that function well in environments with elevated temperatures. Super alloy INCONEL C-276 has high molybdenum content which provides the material with localized corrosion resistance like pitting. This alloy is generally known for corrosion resistance in a wide range of aggressive media. The low carbon content in this alloy helps to reduce carbide precipitation while performing welding. The following section explains in detail about super alloy INCONEL C-276. Chemical CompositionThe chemical composition of INCONEL C-276 is outlined in the following table.
Physical PropertiesThe physical properties of INCONEL C-276 are tabulated below.
Mechanical PropertiesThe following table shows mechanical properties of INCONEL C-276.
Thermal PropertiesThe thermal properties of INCONEL C-276 are tabulated below.
Fabrication and Heat treatmentWeldingWeldability of INCONEL alloy C-276 is rated as good. This material can be used as-welded for most applications. Hot WorkingHot working of this alloy can be performed 870 and 1230°C (1600 and 2250°F). in case of performing heavy working, it has to be above 1090°C (2000°F). AnnealingINCONEL alloy C-276 can be annealed at 1150-1175°C (2100-2150°F) and rapidly cooled by water quenching. |
