GY-Filters hydraulic cartridges are built to provide superior protection from particles and contamination that can result in inefficiency, downtime, and excessive repair costs. Proper fluid cleanliness levels are critical for components in the hydraulic fluid stream. Types of filtration media used depend on the application. GY Filters use microglass media, stainless steel mesh, or paper media. Micron ratings range from 250 microns down to 1 micron. These hydraulic cartridges are essential to extending component lifecycles and reducing operating expenses.
Notched wire, notched wire element and filtration apparatus
The notch wire element is manufactured by wrapping specially treated thin stainless steel wire around the cylindrical filter frame. It has a simple structure and robust form, allowing very accurate setting of the filtering passage size. In addition, because the element is not subject to corrosion or deterioration, and impurities adhered to the element can easily be eliminated by backwashing or air blowing, the element requires no replacement and has a semi-permanent service life.

Because a single notch wire is wrapped around a cylindrical filter frame, the element is very robust. For a wire mesh element, when the requirement for the filtration accuracy is high mesh, thin wire is used. This may cause problems for strength, which must be resolved by overlapping the wire mesh in many layers (multilayered structure). On the other hand, a notch wire element with a single-layer structure will attain the required strength.

A wide range of filter media is available including:

Woven wire mesh can be formed to many sizes and shapes to allow for different flow dynamics. Woven wire mesh elements operate using surface filtration which captures 100% of particles at a given micron rating. Surface based filtration allows for easy cleaning by back flushing the elements. Since particulate is not embedded in the element, regular cleaning will extend the service life of the elements.
