Fill the airlock up to half way with water
Fits it in bung and is placed in hole on fermenter lid
CO2 will escape, and stop air back in to contaminate your wine or beer.
The bubbling allows you to monitor the progress of your fermentation, showing the difference between the inside air pressure and outside air pressure.
