Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) is a resin based product having molecular weight greater than 4million gm. /mol. It is important that we do not confuse UHMWPE with High-Density Polymer (HDPE) because HDPE does not exhibit superior wear characteristics as UHMWPE due to its lower molecular weight. As the molecular weight of polyethylene increases, its abrasion resistance and non-stick characteristics are enhanced.
