AIS system is a new digital navigation system integrating network technology, modern communication technology, computer technology, electronic technology and display technology. The Automatic Identification System (AIS) is evolved from the IFF on vessels or aircrafts. Combining the global positioning system (GPS), based on the static information of vessels such as the vessel’s name, call number and draught, it will broadcast the vessel’s dynamic information like the vessel’s position, speed, course change rate and the heading to the vessels in adjacent sea area and the coast radio station through the very high frequency (VHF) channel, to make them know the dynamic and static information of all vessels in the adjacent sea area, so that they can immediately talk to each other for co-ordination, and take necessary actions to avoid each other, which is quite helpful for the safety of vessels and plays a useful role to ensure a safer navigation.
