Screw-down bearing are mainly used in screw-down mechanisms of rolling mills. The kind of bearing has no cage. The entire raceway is full of tapered rollers. It features high axial loading capacity but its limiting speed is low. In order to improve its running performance, the bottom surface of the bearing's top ring is a concave spherical surface or convex spherical surface.

Screw-down bearing are used at the ends of the adjusting screws of rolling mills. Such thrust roller bearings are designed with full roller complement for maximum load capacity. The face profile of the shaft washer of the TTSX type is convex, while that of the TTSV type is concave. 

Screw-down tapered roller thrust bearings are designed to carry extremely high axial loads in one direction. They comprise of KOYO st2455 Bearing a sphered shaft washer with tapered raceway, a housing washer with flat raceways, and a full complement of tapered rollers.
