Excess sludge with high water cut
In modern sewage treatment plants, mechanical concentrator or concentrator-dewaterer are widely used to treat excess sludge directly from secondary clarifier. Its moisture content is generally more than 98.5%, and the maximum can reach 99.5%. High moisture content has brought about a large increase in the volume of excess sludge to be treated. The key to the treatment of excess sludge with high water content is to achieve rapid separation of slurry. For example, for the belt concentrator, in the concentrating section, the sludge with high water content is concentrated by gravity. Most of the water (80-90%) is separated quickly in a short time, and the water content is reduced to 92-94%. This requires that the flocculant must have excellent mud-water separation performance. Otherwise, the sludge containing a large amount of water will be brought into the pressure filter area, which will easily lead to the phenomenon of "mud running" and the increase of mud cake moisture content.
