Such cnc gear hobbing machine has following features:

1. it has 6 CNC axes:

Radial Feeding(X-axis), 

Tangential Feeding(Y-axis),

Axial Feeding(Z-axis), 

Cutter Rotation(B-axis),

Worktable Rotation(C-axis).

2. X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis are directly driven by the separate Servo Motor, with following features: short transmission chain, good transmission rigidity and high transmission accuracy.

3. The cutter spindle rotation is driven by 3 pairs of high accuracy cylindrical gears from the AC spindle motor mounted on the tool carriage, and its max. spindle speed can reach 700rpm(stepless), and the cutting speed can reach 70~120m/min. The spindle main motor is 15kW, which can bear heavy machining with the multi-head gear hobbing cutters.

4. Radial feeding is achieved by column moving + worktable fixed, which can improve the machining rigidity, and much easier to equip the load/unload system for disc-type gears and shaft-type gears.

5. The cutter carriage is compact, and cutter shifting plus transmission chain of cutter carriage swivel motion are both inner the cutter body. Overturning moment during cutting becomes much less because of short transmission chain, high transmission rigidity and short overhanging of the carriage, which accordingly increase the carriage’s bearing capacity for cutting, and make thermal deformation of the carriage smallest.

6. The main guide is rectangular large plane guide and coated Teflon. Drive by the ball screw, good transmission rigidity, heavy supporting capacity, the rapid radial feeding can reach 4m/min, the rapid axial feeding can achieve 2.8m/min.

Standard CNC controller for this machine is Fanuc Oi+EGB, equipped with RS232C for connection computer. The EGB is electric gear box, which replaces the function of ordinary change gears, to realize high moving accuracy and easy to adjust the machine. The equipped CNC controller can realize multiple cutting circle methods, such as single rectangle circle, double rectangle circle, L-type circle, etc.

7. Therefore, kinds of gears can be machined on this machine, such as: cylindrical straight gears, cylindrical helical gears, short spline shaft, sprockets, worm, taper gear, crowing gears and so on.

The machine has self diagnosis function, when the machine has problems, the fault content can be shown on the screen, for example, the door is not closed, hydraulic pressure is scanty, these will be shown on the screen to reminder the operators.

Auto loading and unloading system can be equipped according to user’s requirements.

8. Normally, the machine cutting accuracy can achieve Class 7 of GB10095-2001.

The machine is suitable used in heavy truck industry, engineering machinery and so on for mass production of kinds of gears. Certainly it is also suitable for multi-type and small batch gears hobbing.
