The demand for high-performance wireless access is driving the move to 4G/LTE networks. With LTE devices, there are two antenna ports for transmitting and receiving information enabling the high throughput that today’s connected devices require.
The C&T RF Antennas Inc has developed a range of antennas all with very high performance to meet the demands of LTE networks and devices. Using any of our off-the-shelf LTE antennas will future proof M2M devices for next-generation networks.
The omnidirectional LTE multiband antenna of The C&T RF Antennas Inc is designed for worldwide LTE / 4G cell reception and can be used for other purposes in the supported frequency range of Frequency: 698-960 / 1710-2170 / 2500-2700 MHz.
What is the purpose of an antenna?
An antenna is used to convert electric energy into radio waves which enable communication/ instruction between two points. These are usually a radio transmitter and receiver- no radio device will work without one. Depending on the application, antennas can sometimes be as simple as a piece of wire. They work when radio waves reach an antenna and cause the electrons inside it to vibrate. This creates an electric current that duplicates the original signal.
What is the Gain?
Gain is a key performance indicator which combines an antenna’s directivity and electrical efficiency. Gain describes how well the antenna converts input power into radio waves headed in a specified direction or vice versa. Essentially, it refers to how well the antenna works to receive or transmit a signal compared to if you didn’t have one.
Gain is measured in Decibels (dBi) and the larger the dBi, the more gain it has. High gain antennas are useful for manipulating the signal to go further in one direction and less in another but do not increase the signal strength overall. For example, using a high gain antenna on your wifi router would improve the signal reach on the floor it’s on, but rooms on other floors of the house are likely to have some trouble connecting to the internet.
What Types of Antenna Are There?
These are some basic antenna types that can be used for a variety of applications, along with some basic characteristics:
C&T RF antennas Inc stocks a wide range of antenna that can be used for a myriad of applications, including some of those listed above. Take a look at the antennas section of our website for full information, or do not hesitate to send us the inquiry.
