Choose BN-H11 PCBN Insert when use Cermaic insert machining bearings, and the ceramic insert chips?
Bearing, as one of the most important parts in many machine industries, is already widely used in so many industries. With the needs of the bearings, it required higher on the performance of the bearing steel, Heat treatment is one of the common process. Traditional cutting tools will have the following problems:
(1) The hardness will be above HRC45 after heat treatment, some will be above HRC60, traditional cutting tools, such as carbide insert, ceramic cutters will be wearable rapidly, and it will affect the production efficiency.
(2) Some working site of the bearings exist interrupt turning condition, such as machining keyway and oil hole on the surface, the cutting tools will be easily chipping when meet interrupt turning condition.
(3) Large scale bearings, such as wind power bearings, the hardness will be high after heat treatment, and has large deformation, and it will have high requirement on the impact resistance and wear resistance of the cutting tools.
GCr15(E52100) is one common bearing steel material, the hardness will be above HRC50 after heat treatment, is difficult to machine.
In early times, they use turning instead of grinding process machining bearings, they use carbide insert, and it will wear rapidly, change the insert frequently will affect the production efficiency. With the appearance of the ceramic cutters and pcbn inserts, the manufacturers begin to use them instead of grinding process.
Pcbn insert is the most effective materials for turning instead of grinding. Especially BNS20, BN-S200 ad BN-H11 are widely used for hard turning bearing industry. Specific for different working condition, we will recommend different cbn grade, Bn-S200 and Bn-H11 can be used for continuous turning process, and BN-S20 can be used for any condition (continuous, interrupt turning condition)
The application case for machining bearings with cbn insert
(1) Finish turning slew bearings raceway, end surface, the hardness is about HRC47~55, the allowance is less than 2mm, we can choose Halnn non-metal adhesive BN-S200 solid cbn insert, the cutting parameters as follows: ap≤1mm,Fr=0.05-0.35mm/r,Vc=60-250m/min, machining effect: The tool life will be 7 times of ceramic cutters, and the roughness can be controlled within Ra0.6~1.0mm.
(2) Finish turning the Cylindrical,endsurface, the hardness is HRC47~55, the allowance will be above 2mm, we recommend Halnn BN-S20 solid cbn insert, the cutting data: ap=1mm,Vc=140-180m/min, the processing efficiency: the tool life is longer and the roughness can reach Ra0.4.
(3) Finish turning the cylindrical and the inner bore, the hardness will be about HRC62, we choose Halnn BN-H11 pcbn insert, the cutting data: ap≤1mm,Fr=0.05-0.35mm/r,Vc=60-250m/min, machining effect: the roughness can be controlled within Ra0.8
