gabions is a cage, cylinder, or box filled with rocks, concrete, or sometimes sand and soil for use in civil engineering, road building, and military applications. For erosion control, caged riprap is used. For dams or in foundation construction, cylindrical metal structures are used. In a military context, earth- or sand-filled gabions are used to protect artillery crews from enemy fire.
The main advantages of gabions are their strength and flexibility. Their wire construction can tolerate differential settlement without fracture. Hydrostatic pressure does not build up behind the gabion units because of their permeable nature. This ability to combine drainage and retention functions makes gabions ideal structures for slope stabilization.
Material: low carbon steel wire, galvanized wire
Surface Treatment: hot dip galvanizing, PVC Coated, galvanized aluminum alloy and so on
Application:
Gabions are mainly used in the following fields: rockfall protection, coastal protection, hydraulic works, retaining walls, roads and pavements, slope Revetment, mining solution, bridge protection, and so on.
Gabions are easily assembled, and require no specialized labor; nearby rock can be used for fill. Gabions are available with different levels of protective coating for durability.
Packing: For easy handling and shipping, the gabions are supplied folded flat. A color stripe applied on the side of each folded gabion identifies the size.
Loading:Usually, gabions will be loaded into 40ft containers to save cost.
