Polyacrylamide 

Polyacrylamide is called PAM for short.There are four types of PAM, anionic polyacrylamide(APAM),
cation ic(CPAM), nonionic (NPAM),and zwitterionic .Polyacrylamide is a polymer formed from acrylamide 
subunits,and it is highly water-absorbent.

Properties:

 

    1.  flocculation: PAM allows suspended substance take the effect of flocculation by charge neutralization, bridge absorption.

    2.  Adhesion: have the effect of adhesion by machinery, physical, chemical.

    3.  reduction of resistance: PAM can effectively reduce the friction resistance of the liquid, a little PAM can reduce 50—80% resistance.

    4 . thickening: PAM in neutral and acid conditions are thickening, PAM can be easy hydrolysis when the PH value is above 10. 
thicken will be more clearly when it becomes the station of half-mesh structure.

 

Applications:

    1. Retention, reinforcing agent in papermaking.

    2. Coagulant aid, flocculation, sludge dewatering agent in water treatment.

    3. Precipitation agent, displacing agent in oil drilling.

    4. PAM is also widely used in thickening, stable colloid, reduce resistance, bond, film, biomedical material.
