Overview:
Fiber optic zip-cord indoor cable is a cable containing two optical fibers. The zip-cord fiber optic cable is consisting essentially of two single-fiber cables having their jackets conjoined by a strip of jacket material. The name of zip-cord cable is borrowed from electrical terminology referring to lamp cord. Optical zip-cord may be easily bifurcated by slitting or tearing the two jackets apart, permitting the installation of optical connectors.

This specification covers a figure 8 construction with 2 tight buffer single fiber units. The optical zip-cord cable fulfils the fire performance test of IEC332-1 and IEC332-3C.
