Color Optical Filters are often used as longpass or bandpass filters. Color Optical Filters are ideal for use as environmental displays, or for other machine vision or industrial applications. These filters utilize the material’s inherent absorption or transmission properties. By controlling the thickness of the material, precise filtering across large bandwidths can be achieved. GIAI Optics’ Color Optical Filters are available in glass, plastic, or film substrates. Glass filters offer high durability, while plastic or film filters are cost-sensitive alternatives.
Dichroic Optical Filters are used for color separation or color enhancement in machine vision or fluorescence applications. These filters can also be used as spectral beamsplitters. Dichroic Optical Filters are similar to Longpass Optical Filters or Shortpass Optical Filters, but ensure all rejected wavelengths are reflected.GIAI Optics offers a wide variety of Dichroic Optical Filters. GIAI Optics’ Dichroic Optical Filters have been designed for high reflectivity of unwanted color or wavelength ranges, while offering high transmission of remaining wavelengths.
Ideal for machine vision, dichroic filters are commonly used for color separation and contrast enhancement applications. Provided in unmounted versions, these filters are easily integrated into a variety of existing camera and illumination setups. In addition, dichroic filters provide wider fields of view not obtainable using narrow bandpass interference filters. Typical configurations include photo enlargers, beam separation, and placing filters in front an imaging lens to selectively isolate spectral regions/colors. If the light source is already colored (ie, red LEDs), then a filter in front of the lens can be used to filter out unwanted ambient light
