Specifications: Monster-Shaped Gong Late Shang Dynasty (1766-1050BC) wine vessel. Height 31.4cm,it is now a collection in Freer Gallery of Art, USA.The whole bronze vessel is decorated with fire veins, cloud and thunder veins background and over20 set of birds, beasts and human figures. Except for dragon, phoenix, weird bird, taotie (a mythical edacious beast),the others all appear in pairs or even numbers. All the decorations are distributed symmetrically to form a belt. Most of the weird animals are from Chinese myth or legends. All these makes the vessel more magnificent and mysterious.
