This is a mini-pci type iii b high-power card is based on atheros ar5004g 802.11b/g wlan solution (ar5213 and ar2112 chipset), supporting IEEE 802.11b/g 2.4ghz radio operation, and up to +23dbm (200mw) average transmit power level to improve the distance. It provides a high-speed wireless connection with a data rate up to 54mbps. The small form factor, lightweight and lower power consumption design can easily integrate into a wide range of OEM device, such as access point or bridge, or other 802.11 based networking devices, to provide high-performance networking capability & features.
The IEEE 802.11g standard is backwards compatible with IEEE 802.11b standard, which means that you do not need to change your entire network to maintain connectivity. You may sacrifice some of IEEE 802.11g speed when you mix 802.11b and 802.11g devices, but you will not lose the ability to communicate with the 802.11b based network.
For more security, the mini-pci card can support a variety of security features, such as wep, aes, receive and transmit filtering, error recovery, wireless multi-media (wmm) enhancements quality of service (qos) support, atheros super g mode, as well as 802.1x, wpa and wpa2 (ieee 802.11i) standard, thus providing security to the wireless network and increase wlan performance.
