Sai Export India are manufectures of Jasmine, There are two type jasmine found in India, One of bela(jasmine sambac) and other is Chameli (Jasmine grandiflorum) are an important place in ESSENTIAL OIL industry.It belongs to family OLEACEAE.

jasmine propagated by cutting march. The cuttings  should be atleast 20-25 cm.

Jasmine starts flowering in the second year from planting. The flowering period range between April and May and from August to November.Plucking of flower is done preferably in the morning as flowers contain maximum aroma at that time .About 30 to 40 person/ha/day are required for plucking the flower.

 

EXTRACTION/DISTILLATION.

Sai Export India solvent extraction  method is commonly used for the production of jasmine concrete.In this process,non-polar organic solvent preferably n-hexane is used.Flowers are dipped in a solvent extraction unit together with n-hexane.The hexane enriched with volatile fragrant compounds is led to vacuum distillation for removal of solvant.Jasmine fragrant compounds as well as undesired plant waxes get extracted in this procedure.

The waxes present in the concrete (about 50%) makes this  product for limited use in perfumery Industry and hence undesirable in the form concrete. So the concrete is treated 4-5 times with high grade absolute alcohol and refluxed at 54⁰C .The alcoholic solution is cooled from -25 to -30 to precipitate the undesired soluble waxes which are filterd off. The wax free solution is concentrated by distilling out the alcohol at 35⁰C at 20 mm/hg pressure. The end product is semi-viscous brown coloured liquid known as absolute or otto of jasmine. The total yield of concrete is about 10-12 kg/ha/year.

Uses of Jasmine --

Similar to tuberose, absolute of jasmine is also made .Attar of Jasmine sambac (Bela) is made not of Jasmine grandiflorua(Chameli). The odor is warm,sweet,fatty floral with slighty herbaceous with fruity undertone.

Regarding used one can cite the old saying ' No perfume without Jasmine' .The jasmine-rose complex forms the more important part of numerous 'grand perfumes' as well as quite ordinary perfumes and bases. Nearly in 80% cases of floral note is imported by jasmine, though in small amount. Hence, looking into cost/impact ratio jasmine absolute does not appear to be an expensive fragrant raw material.

Jasmine concrete is used in soap fragrance where its effect can be perceived in low dosages.

Hence , it is used sometime in medium-to premium soap fragrance.When used properly absolute helps in rounding off, chemical notes giving naturalness and a warm floral undertone.In chypre bases this is used a lot.

Also used in flavours due ti its warm floral taste.Occasionally used in liquors and pastries.In baked goods & ice creams flavour it is utilized as well.

In aromatherapy its action is mild analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic,antispasmodic and sedative.

It is used for dry,sensitive and irritate skin. Good for muscular spasm and sprains.

Useful in depression, nervous exhaustion and stress.

Jasmine oil is used for perfuming expensive soap and cosmetics,mouth washes and dentifrices, bath salt,sachets and tobacco.

it is also usedin incense and fumigants.Alcoholic washings of concrete are used in handkerchief perfumes.
