Cork is a 100% natural product extracted from the evergreen cork oak trees (Quercus Suber) that grow in Mediterranean countries, especially in Portugal. When a cork oak reaches 25 years old, a 2.5 cm thick layer of cork bark is extracted without damaging the tree or its ecosystem. After sterilization, cork bark is pressed flat into a thin cloth.
