Minerals sorting technology
Mineral sorting is the advanced mineral concentration process where individual ore grains are separated from the unwanted material based on some physical properties. This processing has been used over a thousand years. Eye inspection and some basic physical properties such as density and hardness was used by workers for manual picking and removing the unwanted. With the growth in the capacity of plants, new technologies were developed, including optical sorters.
In recent years, Mingder sorting systems have proven their effectiveness in sorting minerals in many varying applications. They sort raw materials using colour,brightness and shape and cost effectively replace size reduction and hand sorting as means of upgrading run of mine product.The better utilisation of the raw material leads to increased product quality and educed treatment costs achieving economic and ecological advantages. Mindger has evolved an entire family of reliable sorters operating in the particle range of 1-100 mm with throughput rates of 15–45t/h.
The working principle
Mingder performs mineral sorting in free fall by means of a color line camera. The respective data is evaluated by a freely programmable sorting software of an industrial computer by color, brightness and size into good product and rejected parts. The computer passes this information to the valve, depending on the machine type, fast and robust compressed air valves, each of which serves one compressed air nozzle. Rejected parts are evaluated by position, shape and size and blown out of the material flow. Depending on material, particle size distribution and the quantity of rejected material, different quantities may be sorted.
