Iron ores are rocks and minerals from which metallic iron can be economically extracted. The ores are usually rich in iron oxides
and vary in color from dark grey, bright yellow, deep purple, to rusty red. The iron itself is usually found in the form of
magnetite (Fe3O4, 72.4% Fe), hematite (Fe2O3, 69.9% Fe), goethite (FeO(OH), 62.9% Fe), limonite (FeO(OH).n(H2O)) or siderite(FeCO3, 48.2% Fe).
Iron oxide rotary kiln is a pyroprocessing device used to raise materials to a high temperature (calcination) in a continuous process.
Materials produced using rotary kilns include:cement, lime, refractories,metakaolin,titanium dioxide,alumina,vermiculite,
iron ore pellets, zinc oxide,etc.
Iron oxide rotary kiln is consisted of cylinder,three supporting device,driving device,flexible kiln head,kiln head sealing device and kiln tail sealing device etc.
Rotary kiln structure introduction and opeation process
Rotary kiln cylinder is composed of steel plate, cylinder body is builded with laying bricks or refractory lining,which has specified slope with levels,rotary kiln has three tyres on the supporting device, there fixed a big gear ring with tangential spring in the inner cylinder of material feeding end of belting leather accessories,rotary kiln has a small gear wheel interdigitate with the big gear ring.
Operation process of rotary kiln,the main drive motor gives power to the open gear device through the main reducer,and then drives the rotary kiln operation.
Materials enter into kiln tail for calcination,As a result of rotary kiln cylinder slope and rotary kiln ortation,the materials are rotated along the circumferential direction and along the axial direction (from high-end to low-end), After the complete decomposition and calcination process, finally,the produced clinker are cooled by cooling machine through the kiln head cover into the cooling machine.Fuel from the kiln head spray into the rotary kiln, in which waste air and clinker do the heat exchange,and then exhaust air from the kiln tail.
The fuel for this may be gas, oil, pulverized petroleum coke or pulverized coal.

In Iron oxide rotary kiln, under the high temperature of 800~900°C, and with help of reducing agent of coal, Fe2O3 is reduced into Fe3O4. In this process,
attached water and crystal water in the ore is firstly removed. The main Physicochemical process are as follows:
Fe2O3·nH2O(H2O)+ heat → Fe2O3·nH2O + H2O↑
(removing attached water)
Fe2O3·nH2O + heat → Fe2O3 + nH2O↑
(removing crystal water)
C + 6Fe2O3 → 4Fe3O4 + CO2↑ + heat
(reduction magnetization)
