Operation principle of the Infrared dryer:
The drum having wide, shallow spiral channel and paddle inside,can be revolved slowly. The paddle will mix the material while the drum is rotates.The material move ahead gradually along the axis of the drum under push of spiral channel. At the same time the infrared ray which is sent by infrared ray generator and air flow around remove the moisture out of material. The residence time of material staying in the drum is about 20 mins (Residence time depends on actual situation of the material).During this time,the material is not only crystallized but also the moisture has fallen greatly.when PET is used for blowing bottles or other processing whose requirement of moisture is really high, we need additional drying to make sure the moisture. So we equip simple traditional dehumidifier to be acted as buffer hopper before the material.
Applications:
The moisture in the granules of most engineering polymers is required to be below a certain level for processing. Sensitivity of the raw material to water, the moisture content of the material when delivered, the type of packaging and storage period are also important criteria determining moisture in the material. The moisture content in PET and PBT is critical, hence the material must always be dried to ensure that there has been no influence on the impact strength of the moulded parts.
Infrared rotating drums IRD are employed in varied applications – conceivable fields of application are virtually unlimited and can be found both in the plastics and other industries.
1. drying of plastic pellets (e.g. PET, ABS/PC, PC, LCP, wood-PP, PP/PE compounds)
2. crystallisation and drying of PET, PPS,PLA (reclaim/pellets)
3. drying processes with high initial moistures > 1 %
4. heating of pellets and reclaim before further processing (e.g. PVC, PE) for example to increase the extruder throughput
5. heating processes for removing residual oligomeres and volatile components
6. drying in the food, feed and pharmaceutical industries
7. roasting of coffee beans.
