WHAT IS ULTRASOUND?
Expressed in hertz, ultrasonic sound is sound waves of 20,000 hertz and above, or 20kHz (kilohertz). The Mouse & Rat Repeller automatically sweeps a frequency of 30-60kHz, which is above the hearing range of humans and non-rodent pets such as dogs and cats;
Human hearing =up to 20,000Hz
Cat & Dogs hearing =up to 27,000Hz
Mouse & Rat Repeller =30,000-60,000Hz
Because of it’s high frequency, the sound emitted by the Mouse & Rat Repeller behaves in a similar way to light, as opposed to, say, the sound from a stereo. In this way, the ultrasound is reflected by solid objects such as walls and doors, but will not penetrate them to fill the rooms adjacent.
Rooms and buildings with hard surfaces (kitchens, conservatories, sheds and greenhouses) are ideal environments in which to use Mouse & Rat Repellers. They can also be used in rooms with soft fumishings, such as bedrooms, but take care not to abstruct the area in front of the unit. Rodents find the high frequency sound distressing and will move to a less hostile environment.
