Thrust needle roller bearings are a type of needle roller bearing with a cage.They are compact and offer large load capacity and high limiting speed.The two-piece cage,consisting of precision-pressed steel, guides the rollers accurately.The surface-hardened cage offers superior wear resistance and strength.
Using axial (thrust) needle roller bearings,it is possible to make compact bearing units.They will take up no more space than a conventional thrust washer,when the faces of adjacent machine components can serve as raceways for a set of thrust needle rollers with cage.In the cases when faces of adjacent machine components cannot serve as raceways,a set of thrust needle rollers with cage can be combined with washers of various designs.
needle roller thrust bearings are fitted with a form-stable cage to reliably guide and retain a large number of needle rollers.The diameter deviations of the rollers within one assembly are within 2 µm, enabling these bearings to accommodate heavy axial loads and shock loads.These bearings provide a high degree of stiffness within a minimum axial space.In applications where the faces of adjacent machine components can serve as raceways,needle roller thrust bearings will take up no more space than a conventional thrust washer.They can accommodate axial loads acting in one direction only. needle roller thrust bearings in two designs:

For applications where adjacent components cannot serve as raceways,the assemblies can also be combined with washers of various designs.
Needle roller bearings are a bearing that is classified as either radial or thrust depending on the direction of the load being supported. Needle roller bearings include bearings whose rollers slightly exceed the size range of needle rollers as stipulated by ISO.Needle roller bearings include drawn cup and solid radial bearings,as well as application-specific cam followers,and roller followers.Thrust bearings include thrust needle bearings.
When high axial load capacities are needed and envelope space is minimal, needle thrust bearings are an option.These bearings consist of a stamped or machined cage and rollers.The cage retaining the rollers is paired with thrust washers that act as raceways.Thrust bearings can be used without thrust washers when the faces of adjacent machine components can serve as raceways,allowing the machine to be even more compact.These bearings provide a high degree of stiffness and are most suitable where high accuracy is required at high speeds and under fluctuating heavy loads,such as machine tools and high-pressure pumps.
Needle roller and cage thrust assemblies are complements of small diameter needle rollers arranged in a spoke-like configuration.Needle rollers are equally spaced by means of a cage whose web section separates the rollers and provides guidance to keep them tracking in an orbital path.The purpose of these assemblies is to transmit thrust loads between two relatively rotating objects while greatly reducing friction.
Needle roller and cage thrust assemblies also can be unitized with lipped washers which serve as raceway surfaces for the needle rollers.Washers can be supplied separately or can be mechanically unitized to the needle roller thrust assemblies for easy handling.

Design Attributes
- Dimensions for bore and O.D. of thrust assemblies and washers are nominal.
- Thrust washers burnished at least one quarter of bore area (remainder is rough breakaway finish).
- O.D. finish of washers will be as blanked.
- Thinner washers may be out of flat due to distortion in hardening in the free state (expected to flatten out under load).
