How to apply corner beads?
step 1. Measure the length of the outside corner to be covered. The corner bead should span the entire length of the drywall on the outside corner. Try to avoid splicing (using two short pieces to make up a long run).
step 2. Cut the corner bead with tin snips to the desired length.
step 3. Fit the corner bead over the raw edge of the drywall.
step 4. Maneuver it until you have a nice, tight 90-degree angle on the corner. (You can also buy 45-degree and flexible plastic corner bead to fit almost any artistic-type application of construction, so don't feel stifled by squared corners.)
step 5. Make sure you like the result, then put two or three nails or screws into the corner bead to hold it in place. (Nail straight into the drywall, dimpling, or countersinking the nail head, slightly like any other nail or screw.)
step 6. Step back and check to be sure you're happy with the corner's line and shape. If so, continue to nail or screw every 8 to 10 inches along the entire length on both walls. You're now ready to apply mud to the corner.
