The operation and maintenance of screw press machine
Preparations before working
Keep the room temperature between 15~20℃, it’ll influence the oil yield and oil quality if the temperature is too low.
Get everything ready before start pressing, so it can contribute to feeding, receive oil, clean impurities, dredge hopper and clean machines.
Check the transmission and lubrication system, make sure it can run flexibly and lubricate sufficiently.
After starting the machines, let it run empty. If it lets out stridulation, knocking noise and other off-normal occurrence, stop machines immediately and check the press, you can keep testing after clear the troubles, till the press run stably.
Before oil seeds go into pressing, the moisture should be suitable, the optimal moisture content should be as below:
Peanut: 8~11% soybean: 5~8% cotton seed: 4~6% rapeseed: 6~8%
The ways to distinguish moisture content in the oil seeds:
Cottonseed: It is good when you bite it, and it cracks, shell and kernel are separated, if the cottonseed kernel becomes powder, it is too dry, while it’s too wet if it becomes flakes.
Soybean: it is good to hear the quiet sound when you crunch with front tooth, bit flat with gills teeth. It’s too wet if it’s bit flat, while it’s too dry while it make larger noise.
Peanut: Usually it’s processed with hot pressing, the barrel should be pre-heating before hot pressing, the peanut should be cooked up to 60℃ or so, then go to pressing.
Rapeseed: For cold pressing, it is good when you use the fingernail to pinch it and it makes sound, divided into two pieces
Operation
When the machines run freely normally, feed small amount of oilseeds uniformly slowly, so as to grind the machine chamber, checking whether it’s normal or not when the cakes come out. If it can’t be discharged smoothly, it may be the reason of too small gap, adjust hand wheel clockwise. If the cakes are discharged too much too fast, adjust hand wheel counterclockwise till it can work normally. Then increase the input capacity gradually, so as to avoid non-uniform feeding, loading rise suddenly, resulting in blockage.
The working temperature of press machine depends on the oil seeds variety and humidity. The higher machine temperature is needed if the input material is too dry, on the contrary, the temperature can be lower. Normally, the oil can be extracted out when the machine temperature is about 60℃. The normal production can be started when you can feel it’s hot while you touch the machine body.
Adjust the meal thickness to 0.3mm~1.0mm, adjust nut and increase feeding capacity when it reaches requirement.
Check the cake discharging frequently during the production. Stop feeding when the cake can’t be discharged smoothly or non-discharging.
Clean the slag leakage constantly so as to avoid blocking of oil-way. The recycled slag can be feed back to hopper and press again.
During the second pressing, the meal should be broken into 10mm or so pieces, and this can avoid disordered feeding. Normally, soybean is pressed 2 times, peanut and cottonseed can be pressed 2~3 times.
The machine should be stopped immediately and clean it, once the metal or other tough substances are found in the chamber.
Close the bottom spile in the feed inlet and stop feeding 1~2 minutes before stop the machine. Make screw go backward by 2~3 cycles, so the residues can be discharged.
Maintenance service
Lubricate each part with grease or machine oil regularly. The machine oil can be added to common copper sheathing and adjusting screw sheathing after 4~6 working hours. The rolling bearing should be cleaned and refilled grease after 3~4 months’ usage.
Inspect press machine after 3~4 months’ running.
Inspecting items: adjust the concentric between squeezer shaft and chamber; check the abrasion of spare parts such as worm, cage bar and cake-discharging rings etc. The abrasion of worm usually happens at the last 3 buckles of screw thread. It should be replaced with new ones after the abrasion and it affect the production efficiency. The cage bar may become arc-shaped after abrasion and this will reduce the chamber pressure. When the abrasion loss reaches 2mm, we can change the other side for using. It should be replaced with new one when the both sides are abrased.
