1. Wood chipper

Working principle: wood raw materials enter to touch the cutting blades, as the cutter disc rotates at a high

speed to cut the wood materials, the wood pieces are produced by the high-speed air flow resulting from the

fan blade of the cutter disc inside the cutting chamber.The log and branches are requested to be cutting with

similar thickness and length. The general size is 15-20 mm long and 3-5 thick , although the width is not limited,

it is better not more than 20 mm. The quantified rate is to be more that 75%.The length of the wood piece can

be achieved by adjusting the bottom knife gap to meet the needs of users.

2.Drying

If the raw material is wet (which is typically the case for fresh forest residues, around 50% moisture content),

it has to be dried. In a dryer (generally a rotary drum type one) where the moisture content is reduced to

about 8-10 % .Drum type drying machine comprises a heating device, feeding device, drying device and dust

removing device. The heating device includes a calcining furnace, a blower at the bottom of the calcination

furnace and a hopper on the top of calcination furnace. The hopper is connected with the discharge hole of

the extrusion forming pellet machine through a conveying belt to convey the biomass pellet fuel products as fuel.

directly through the hopper at the top of the calcination furnace into the calcining furnace for combustion and

heating, on the one hand, it adjusts measures to local conditions, use local materials, with no additional heat source;

of the biomass pellet fuel products, so that real-time monitoring of quality and fluctuation of biomass pellet fuel

product can be made.

3.Hammer mill

4.Pelleting machine

After crushing, the powder is then moved by conveyor to a pellet mill, where the pellets are extruded through the

action of rollers acting on a perforated matrix. On the outer side of the latter, a knife cut off the pellets at the

desired length.Two main types of pellet presses can be distinguished: flat die and ring die types. The flat die type

has a circular perforated disk on which two or more rollers rotate and force the material through the holes.

The ring die press features a rotating perforated ring on which rollers press on the material to the inner perimeter.

The most common output range for pellet presses is 3-5 t/h. According to manufacturers, pellet dies have an

average service life of 1,000-1,500 hours, corresponding approximately to 10,000 tons.

5.Cooling machine

After pelleting, pellets are very hot (90-100°C) and are immediately air quenched down to 25°C. This sets up the

lignin and hardens the product, and contributes to maintain its quality during storage and handling. Finally, pellets

are sieved so as to separate the residual fines which are generally re-used in the process. Dust free pellets are then

ready for storage or for automatic packing (in 25 kg bags or big bags - 1 to 1.5 m3).
