This Pollen bee trap is used to get pollen easily from bees.

Pollen collector is used at the gate of beehive. When bees fly back their house with pollen,  they need to fly into beehive box. 

The ostiole on pollen trap only allowed bees to fly into and out.  And the pollen on bees' back are left as the obstruction of the pollen trap ostiole.
