Brief Introduction to Tea Seed Pellet/Meal/Cake/Powder

        Tea seed pellet(also known as tea seed cake)is a dark brown grainy residue of the camellia seed after pressing process, 18% of which is comprised of tea saponin(a sort of a hemolytic toxin) that can decimate wild fishes, loaches, spiral shells, clams, frogspawns, tadpoles and certain kinds of aquatic insects by dissolving their erythrocytes. Hence, it can serve as a more useful pool-cleaner than other drugs. Tea seed pellet is also extensively used in the crop and fruit tree plantation as a very effective organic fertilizer due to its extremely high protein content.          

      Functions of Tea Seed Pellet/Meal/Cake/Powder

        1. Tea Seed Pellet is mainly used to kill wild fish during culture period. Tea Seed Pellet consists of a particular element, Tea Saponin. Tea Saponin has strong toxicity to fish, but no harmless to shrimp, crab, sea cucumber, etc. The reason is that there are different hemoglobin between fish and shrimp, crab, sea cucumber, etc. Fish contains heme, while the shrimp contains copper hemocyanin. And tea saponin only has effect on heme, i.e. killing fish, no harm to shrimp, crab, sea cucumber, etc. Moreover, it can also be served as healthy food for shrimp and crab due to its extremely rich content of protein and crude fibre.
