1.How does SHR OPT IPL work?

SHR works by emitting a precise beam of light energy, which safely transmits through the skin to gradually heat the dermis (lower layer of the skin). When this light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicle of the hair it converts to heat at a temperature that causes thermal damage, effectively damaging the hair follicles. The heat also disables the cells responsible for new hair growth while avoiding injury to the surrounding tissue. SHR application method safely works on a high repetition rate of short pulses that are delivered deep into the dermis, achieving high average power and therapeutically effective heat build-up, with virtually no pain.

2.WHAT ARE THE AREAS THAT CAN BE TREATED?

 SHR IPL is safe for all skin types and all hair types can be treated, including some blonde, grey and finer hairs. It can even be used on tanned skin. We recommend however that you are not actively tanning at the time of your treatment.Blonder, lighter and grey hairs are more difficult to treat and may need more treatments but we can test an area prior if needed to ensure our treatment is suitable.

3.FOR BEST HAIR REMOVAL RESULTS

 Depending on the area that requires SHR, we recommend that our clients have 6-10 treatments at four week intervals. Hair reduction treatments at four weekly intervals will ensure that we are able to target the hair at the right time during the natural re-growth cycle. Towards the end of the process, the interval between hair reduction treatments may be extended to 6-8 weeks as the re-growth cycles slow.

4.Do I need to arrange time off from work for treatments?

 SHR IPL Laser treatments have no “down time” and requires no recovery time. You can have a treatment and return to work and other normal activities immediately.

5.Why do I need 6+ treatments?

Hair growth occurs in 4 stages: Early Anagen (early hair growth), Anagen (active hair growth), Catagen (regression) and Telogen (resting, not growing). SHR OPT IPL hair removal only affects the Anagen stage (actively growing hair). Therefore, approximately twenty-five-percent of hair is

removed with each treatment. A few treatments are therefore required for the treatment area to be hair free.

6.Are there risks and side effects?

Depending on skin type and sensitiveness of the skin, some light skin redness (erythema) or slight swelling (edema) can be experienced. These are normal reactions which show that the treatment was effective and they should generally disappear after a short while.The intake of certain medicinal products which trigger photoallergic and phototoxic reactions must be clarified beforehand.

Tattoos must be carefully covered, otherwise there is a danger of them being destroyed.

7.What is the difference between LASER, IPL and SHR?

Fundamentally they have a similar mechanism of action (photo-thermal), however two significant benefits of SHR are: more speed and less sensation. Larger hand-pieces means SHR technology can perform procedures up to ten times faster than traditional LASER or IPL technologies and with active cooling in the hand-pieces, the sensation of SHR is far less intense.

8.Is it painful?

NO,the SHR Technology IPL machine we use have a dynamic cooling device. This cools the skin, making the treatment very comfortable Individual pain experience can vary.

9.How long will my treatment take, and how many treatments will I need?

Every SHR IPL Hair Removal treatment, like every client, is unique. Individual treatments will vary according to skin and hair colour, to be expected. On average, we recommend 6-10 treatments. Some clients may require additional treatments, depending on the individual.Treatments should be repeated every 6 weeks for the body and 4 weeks for the face depending on the hair growth rate. There is no need for long hair.
