Principle

Coolshape system is the noninvasive cooling of adipose tissue to induce lipolysis – the breaking down of fat cells – to reduce body fat without damage to other tissues. The scientific principles of Cryolipolysis were discovered by dermatologists Dieter Manstein, MD, and R. Rox Anderson, MD, of the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. How does it work

Coolshape uses precisely controlled, targeted cold therapy in a treatment that lasts about one hour per treatment area. The skin to be treated is suctioned by a applicator which modify the fat's temperature to just above freezing. Energy is extracted from the fat cell by the cold, causing it to die.
The device is applied to the target area and then it starts reducing the temperature to attain the right coldness to

selectively target the fat cells in that area. The body responds with an inflammatory reaction that causes the body to dispose of the broken down fat cells. The result is a reduction of the treated fat bulge that appears 2-4 months after treatment. The whole procedure takes 1-2 hours on average.

How Cold is CoolShape?
A study looked at the temperature of the skin surface and the fat at a point 1.5cm below the surface during a 60 minute CoolShape application.The skin surface dropped in temperature steadily during the 60 minutes until it was at an average of 12.3c/54f (+/ 2.6c).The underlying fat temperature dropped for the first 30 minutes to around 13c/55f then cooled more slowly for the final 30 minutes to around 10c/50f. It's interesting to note that the skin temperature was warmer than the underlying fat.
What happens to the fat cells?
During the procedure, exposure to cooling causes fat cell apoptosis, which leads to the release of fat layer. The fat cells in the treated area are gently eliminated through the body's normal metabolism process, much like fat from food.
Will treating the distance be painful?

What does it feel like? Does it hurt?
The CoolShape procedure can be a little chilly. Controlled cooling is delivered via an applicator to freeze the targeted fat. Are there any side effects?

After the procedure, typical side effects include temporary numbness, redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging and pain. Many patients do experience redness in the treated areas for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed. In rare cases, this redness may persist up to 2 weeks, but it will completely resolve itself.
