Intense Pulse Light is a method for the defi nitive treatment of excess hair, or more precisely, unwanted hair. It is a strong light beam with a specific wavelength. The hairs are exposed to the pulse light for only a fraction of a second. An amount of light (=energy) is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. The pulse light adapts itself to the thickness of the hair. The pigment heats up, transmits the heat to the root and burns it. If the temperature in the hair root reaches 70 degrees, the hair follicles that supply the hair root are seared shut so that the hair cannot grow back there. The handle is continuously cooled. Within a fraction of a second dozens of hair follicles can be treated at the same time. This makes it a very quick and effective method of hair removal for almost all skin types.
