How to Make BJD Wigs?
1. Wefts are the strands of hair attached to the wig (skip this section if the hair you bought came in wefts). Start by placing some of the hair fiber flat with one end lined up. If you have trouble getting it straight, put a weight across the fiber and cut off the ends of the hair.
2. Tape the straight edge of the hair fiber to a working surface.
3. Squeeze a line of caulk straight across the hair fibers at the edge of the masking tape. Wet your finger and smooth out the caulk.
4. Once the caulk has dried, pull the masking tape off of your working surface--but not off of the hair fibers--and flip the hair over.
5. Squeeze another line of caulk on the hair, on the opposite side of the first line, and smooth it out like you did before.
6. Let the caulk dry, and cut off the masking tape above the line of caulk.
7. Repeat these steps several times until you have the desired number of wefts to attach to the wig cap.
8. Hair is attached to the wig cap either by doing a whip stitch or by gluing it down. Using either method, attach a hair weft to the base of the wig cap, starting at the nape of the neck. The weft should be facing up with the hair hanging down below it. Do this until you've made a circle all the way around.
9. Attach another hair weft about one-quarter of an inch above the previous weft. Repeat this until you're one-half of an inch away from where you want the part to be.
10. Attach the final wefts facing the opposite direction so that the wefts are pointing down and the hair folds over them. Attach the final wefts in a straight line next to each other to create a part. If you don't want your wig to have a part, attach the final weft in a tight spiral at the top of the wig.
11. Rinse the wig under cold water and let it dry.
How to wash BJD doll wigs?
1.Wash the doll's hair at a sink. Undress the doll. Put a hand towel over her cloth body and place a washcloth over her face to keep her dry. Make certain not to let water get in the doll's eyes because they can rust. The hand towel and washcloth should remain in place throughout the washing process.
2.Turn the faucet on and let the water run to a lukewarm temperature. Carefully place the doll's hair under the running water to wet her hair. (The doll should be face up to prevent water running into her eyes.) Set her down on the towel.
3.Apply a small amount of mild shampoo to your hands and rub hands together to form a lather. Gently smooth the shampoo into the doll's hair from roots to ends. Rinse the doll's hair thoroughly.
4.Lay the doll face up on a towel; wrap the towel edges around the doll's hair to absorb the excess water. Do not wring or rub the hair.
5.Stand the doll up and let the hair hang loose. Leave it to air dry overnight. A doll stand may be helpful to keep the doll upright.
How to style BJD doll wigs?
1.Place the doll in a doll stand to keep her upright and still. It is important to keep the doll still while you brush her hair to avoid pulling hair out of her head.
2.Divide the doll's hair into four sections. Take a spray bottle filled with water and lightly spray each section of hair. If the doll's hair is a little dry or frizzy, add a small amount of light leave-in conditioner.
3.Use a wire wig brush on straight hair. Brush or comb in sections. Pick up the brush and begin brushing at the ends of the hair. Work the brush up to the roots. Once the tangles are out, run the brush down the hair from roots to ends. Repeat on each section.
4.Use a pick on curly hair. Comb the hair from the roots to the ends. Repeat on each section. Once all tangles are eliminated, divide the hair into smaller sections. Take a small section of hair and spray on a little more water. Run your finger down the hair from roots to ends to smooth it and curl it around your finger. Repeat on each small section until all hair is curled.
5.Style your doll's hair as desired.
