ACSR/AW Aluminium Conductor Aluminum Clad Steel Reinforced
USD $0.1 - $50 /Ton
Min.Order:1 Ton
Brief Introduction:
These conductors are formed by several wires of aluminium and aluminium clad steel, stranded in concentric layers.
The wire or wires which form the core, are made of aluminium clad steel and the external layer or layers, are of aluminium.Aluminium clad steel core consist normally of 1, 7 or 19 wires. The diameters of aluminium clad steel and aluminium wires can be the same, or different.By varying the relative proportions of aluminium and aluminium clad steel, the required characteristics for any particular application can be reached. A higher U.T.S. can be obtained, by increasing aluminium clad steel content , and a higher current carrying capacity by increasing aluminium content.
Applications:
Overhead transmission and distribution lines Medium, High and Extra High voltage. Specially recommended in corrosive environments or in coastal areas.Used as bare overhead transmission and as primary and secondarydistribution cable. ACSR/AW offers strength characteristics similar to ACSR, along with slightly greater ampacity and resistance to corrosion
due to aluminum-cladding of the steel core wires.
Producing Process:
• Aluminium melting, continuous casting and rolling.
• Drawing.
• Stranding of aluminium clad steel cores.
• Stranding of aluminium layers.
Installation:
It is recommended that the installation instructions indicated by the Local Electric Code, or any equivalent, be followed,
so that the safeguarding of persons and the integrity of the product will not be affected by deficiencies in the installation.
Construction:
The center wire or wires are of aluminum-clad steel and the outer layer or layers of aluminium.
Mechanical Advantages:
Depending on the stranding configuration and conductor size, ACSR/AW weighs three- to six-percent less than its ACSR counterpart. This feature is converted into savings in line design and construction costs.
In most cases, the strength-to-weight ratio of ACSR/AW conductors will surpass galvanized or aluminized cores. In fact,
standard ACSR conductors having "B" and "C" galvanized or aluminized cores have strength-to-weight ratios which are considerably lower than those of ACSR/AW.
In addition to the above mechanical consideration, the excellent, time-tested fatigue resistance of ACSR/AW has been demonstrated in installations in both marine and industrial
environments.
