ET theory;

For the excitation coil (probe) powered by the AC voltage, there will generate alternating magnetic field.

And once the coil approaches to the test workpiece (must be of metal material), the alternating magnetic field will leads to the eddy current within the body of the workpiece. In this case, if there is no flaw on the surface or subsurface nor does there exist any changes of the material properties, the eddy current is complete and smooth, or the eddy current distribution and the intensity will be changed. Via the detecting of these changed factors, we are capable to get informed of testing results.

 

 

UT theory:

The changed acoustic properties and the internal structure will influence the spread of the ultrasonic wave. And via the detecting and analysis of the changed ultrasonic, we are capable to evaluate the performance and internal structure of the test material.
