Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS) is a fine powder dust produced by quickly chilling molten slag with industrial water, and graned in INBA granulation plant. This process produces a granular, glassy product, with latenthydraulic properties (influenced from the presence of MnO and TiO2).
GBFS is made up by Blast Furnace Slag (BFS), a nonmetallic byproduct that is generated during hot metal production, where iron ores are reduced with coke at elevated temperatures.
The slag runs out of the blast furnace at temperatures above 1500°C.
BFS consists primarily of silicates, aluminosilicates, and calcium-alumina-silicates. BFS forms when slagging agents (e.g., iron ore, coke ash, and limestone) are added to the iron ore to remove impurities.
According to EN 197-1 in the blast furnace slag the content of calcium oxide, magnesium oxide and silica dioxide is above 67% and the ratio between these elements is above 1 (CaO+MgO/ SiO2).
This material can be loaded in container or in bulk directly on handysize carrier.
