AdBlue is an aqueous urea solution made with 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water. It is standardised as AUS 32 (aqueous urea solution) in ISO 2224 , and known as Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) in America. AdBlue is used as a consumable in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) in order to lower NOx concentration in the diesel exhaust emissions from diesel engines.

Storage:
Adblue is corrosive to aluminum and some metal containers. While not hazardous, the fluid can be contaminated by these improper storage materials. DEF containers, and everything that comes in contact with the solution, must be composed of stainless steel or certain plastics.
Fleets operating in extreme climates or with outside storage systems may have to factor temperature into their storage. DEF freezes at 12 degrees Fahrenheit, but no quality issues result from thawing. If exposed to high temperatures around the clock for several months, however, the product may degrade.
