It is used for 3D film in cinema, which has a good rendition for polarization light.
The method for testing rendition of polarization light is that a polarization slice can be placed before a given light (epidiascope) to measure incident light at the same time you place another polarization slice before the lens of luminance meter to measure reflective light. And then adjust the angel of polarization slice to get max luminance value as well as min value by rotating polarization slice 90° before luminance meter. If the ratio >125 1, there is a good rendition.
