RG6 Wireless Coaxial F Female Connector
F connectors are a type of RF connectors that are primarily used with RG-6/U or RG-59/U cables.
F connector was invented by Eric Winston while working on cable television technology.
F connectors are very cost effective and has male connector body which is crimped or sometime
screwed onto the outer braid, commonly used for "over the air" terrestrial television, cable television
and universally for satellite television and cable modems.
Applications
GPS, Television, Cable TV connections, Satellite dishes, Cable Modems and WiFi.
Securing the Connector
The connector screws onto the connection. The outer collar of the connector has a hex nut so you
can tighten or loosen it with a wrench.
Center Conductor
The center conductor of the cable becomes the center pin of the connector. It pushes through the
body of the connector when installed so you don't have to solder or crimp on a pin.
Types of Cable
F connectors appear on various types of coaxial cables including RG59, RG6, RG6 mini and RG6
Quad cable.
Installing the Connectors
You can either crimp or compress F connectors onto the ends of coaxial cables. Both methods
require special tools to make the connections.
Materials
F connectors are usually made of nickel, but higher priced connectors may be gold plated to
improve the connection and reduce the risk of corrosion.
