1.How much coffee should be used for 8oz with this?

We suggest using 1-2 table spoons of medium ground coffee is a good start point for an 8oz cup. Its not an exact science as it comes down to personal taste regarding the strength. 

2.Is the mesh finer than other steel coffee cones or fine tea strainers?

The mesh is super fine. You an use very small grind if you like, but bear in mind that the finer the grind, the longer it takes for the water to flow thru the coffee. I like to use a grind just a bit more coarse than you would use for automatic drip. This will give you more control over the strength of the brew. If you want really strong coffee, just pour the water more slowly. For less strong coffee, pour faster. If your grind is really fine, you're going to get espresso every time! 

3.Largest size cup mouth it can rest on? (Diameter/width of rack/base?)

Answer:

It is 5 inches in diameter at the base, so anything less than that (3 to 3.5 inches in diameter just to be safe) 

4,Why doesn't the water leak out the sides?

Because the inner mesh layer is so fine, it means the water trickles through the coffee grounds to the bottom of the cone quite slowly. The drip through rate depends on how much water you pour in and how slowly you pour in the water.

 5. Is there any way to control the steep time?

Yes, hot water flows through too quickly. One way to slow the flow is a paper filter.

6. Best cleaning method: I think mine is "stuck" because the boiling water stops midway and the drip strength significantly diminishes. Please help!

If you have a spray fixture on your sink, we found that using soap and inverting the coffee dripper to clean it works well. A slightly abrasiveness sponge with soap and water will also do the trick. If you are still having issues with the water flow after that, you can try a coarser coffee grind.
