1. VAM Vinyl Resin equivalent to Dow VMCH
2. Characteristice,
A high molecular weight resin containing approximately 86 percent vinyl chloride, 13 percent vinyl acetate, and 1 percent maleic anhydride. Because of the carboxyl functional group, VAM has excellent adhesion on metal, especially on aluminum foil, the resin foil also has a good adhesion on PVC , ABS, paper, textiles, beton, etc. At the same time, VAM has good water resistance, excellent oil, ester, acid, alkali and salt water solution resistance.
Solubility
VAM is usually dissolved in relatively strong solvent/diluent combinations, such as ketone/aromatic diluent (50/50 percent by weight), to produce solutions of 22 to 25 percent solids. Ketones is a particularly good solvent, and esters is the relatively weak solvent. Chlorinated hydrocarbons such as dichloroethane and 1,2 - dichloroethane can completely dissolve VAM, and methyl chloroform and tetrachloroethane can only swell it. Aromatic hydrocarbons have a good role in the swelling, generally using with ketone.
Application
VAM is used for maintenance, marine, aluminum foil varnish, cans sealed paint, shoe adhesive, floor paint , silk screen printing and transfer ink, and is often used to make heat-sealable packaging coatings. It also can be used to produce the VC heat sealing plastic package for medical, Electro-chemical aluminum paint, thermal transfer adhesive
