Lime Oil offered by us is derived from a small evergreen tree that produces a small, bitter fruit similar to Lemon. The oil is extracted from the fruit part of the tree, which is green in color and has green fleshy interior.Lime oil is extracted from Citrus aurantifolia (also known as Citrus medica var. acida and C. latifolia) of the Rutaceae family and is also known as Mexican and West Indian lime, as well as sour lime. Originally from Asia, it is now cultivated in most warm countries, especially Italy, the West Indies and the Americas. It is an evergreen tree growing up to 4.5 meters (15 feet) high with smooth, green leaves, stiff sharp spines and small, white flowers. The fruit is green and although there are many varieties they usually measure about two inches in diameter. It was introduced into Europe by the Moors and from there it migrated to the Americas. Ships transporting it were called 'lime juicers' and ship crews depended on it to prevent scurvy, because of the high vitamin C content. It is used to flavor ginger ale and cola drinks, and also used in the perfume industry. Lime oil can be extracted by expression or by distillation - the peel of the unripe skin by cold expression or the peel and /or the whole ripe fruit by steam distillation. Our lime oil is obtained by steam distillation of the fruit rinds and since it is distilled it does not have a phototoxic effect on the skin.

Uses:  sore throats and flu and aids the immune system while easing coughs, bronchitis and sinusitis, as well as helping asthma. Lime oil can stimulate and refresh a tired mind and helps with depression. Anxiety, Because of the uplifting quality of citrus oils, diffusing lime can be beneficial for high-stress situations at home or work. Bacterial Infections, Diffusing the oil, inhaling directly or with steam are all gentle ways to get most oils into your system. Lime can also be applied topically, either over the area in question or massaged into the reflex points of the feet (diluted for sensitive skin, and as described in the Application Guide above). Blood Pressure, Lime oil may help regulate blood pressure, especially due to stress. Consider adding it to shampoos, baths, lotion, or a drop in each glass of water. Body Care, Benefit from the uplifting and energizing qualities by adding a few drops into a salt or sugar scrub, making your own deodorant, dropping in your shampoo or adding to homemade soaps or in lotions. Cellulite, Some have even reported a decrease in cellulite when adding this essential oil to their lotions or coconut oil and massaging into areas with cellulite. Cleaning, Use the oil in your natural household cleaners, including sprays, scrubs, and furniture polish. Colds, Used in the same manner as lemon essential oil, lime's antiviral properties can help fight colds by diffusing, adding to your water or massaging into the body Cooking, lime oil can be used internally as a food supplement. Add a drop to your water for flavor, a couple drop for a citrus dish, even add a single drop to your beer! Deodorant, Mix one drop of lime oil with 2 drops of the (naturally antibacterial) coconut oil and apply under the arms. It's not an antiperspirant but it does make a great deodorant. Exhaustion/Fatigue, Same as above, add a drop to your water, massage into the skin, or even diffuse into the air for uplifting benefits.
