This leash is light weight and very well built inside and out. It's strong and can take a good pulling from any dog. The clip is little but it's strong and that's all that matters. Now the button where your thumb goes that controls the leash has a built in grip on it for your thumb can press down firmly . If you press down the button it basically makes the leash freeze so it can't move , than as soon as you release it the leash is free mode again. Than if you press the button down and push it upwards, it locks it into place what ever the length of the leash is at the time of doing so.
