Alumina ceramics with superior strength, hardness, insulation, thermal conductivity, high temperature, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, high temperature strength and other characteristics, it has been widely used in engineering, mechanical seals, electronics, instrumentation, sensing, transport, communications, and other occasions or areas. The content of 99.7%, 99%, 95% alumina products contains the crucible, sockets, valves, electrodes, spools, wear board, alumina balls, electronic porcelain, textile porcelain pieces, and other shaped pieces.

All alumina bodies possess very good mechanical properties such as hardness and compressive strength. They also hold up well under harsh conditions such as acid corrosion, high wear areas, and sliding abrasion. They also possess very good electrical insulation properties and have very specific thermal conductive and thermal expansion rates.

Capabilities

Press to Shape: Typically when referring to ceramic parts that are pressed to shape we are talking about parts that have their net shape coming off of the tooling. The only additional work required by the customer is what is necessary to fit them into your application. Most of our customers add value to our product via metallization or some type of assembly.

Green Machining: Green machining is a term used for machining ceramic material prior to firing. This operation allows us to add additional configurations to a part that has been either dry pressed, iso-pressed, or extruded that you normally could not obtain by these operations directly. They could be in the form of multiple stepped I.D.’s and O.D.’s as well as notches, cut outs, holes, or some type of shape on the sides of these already formed green parts.

Post Firing Grinding: This refers to grinding after the firing process. Once this material is fired, the only thing harder is diamond. The only way to change the shape or sizes of a fired part is to grind it, ream it, or hone it with some type of impregnated diamond tools (i.e., wheels, reamers, or hones). Ceramic parts can be reamed or ground after firing to achieve a closer tolerance than what can normally be achieved prior to firing.

Ceramic Machining

We have a wide range of machining and finishing processes. This enables our ceramic products to be used in applications where excellent surface finish and tight tolerances are vital for their success.

Our manufacturing techniques include;

Centreless grinding - for OD grinding of ceramic tubes and rod to 2 micron precision.

Tool post grinding - up to 1000mm long and diameter up to 200mm.

CNC milling – Intricate shapes produced from a range of ceramic materials.

Flat bed grinding – to a flatness of 10 microns over a length of 1000mm.

Lapping - We have both silicon carbide and diamond laps for polishing surfaces to a mirror finish. Size up to 350mm diameter and polish to better than 0.2 Ra.

Polishing – Pump pistons are made by diamond polishing to a finish of better than 0.2 Ra.

Spheres and seats - We can manufacture spheres and seats to a range of sizes, lapped to a gas tight seal.

Drilling – Hole sizes from 2mm to 100mm.

Honing – Internal and external honing of ceramic tubes and rod.

Sawing - We regularly cut ceramic components to size for both high volume and low volume products, with precision to 80 microns.
