D2/1.2379 TOOL STEEL

 

D2/1.2379 is an air hardening (cold work) tool steel that is high in carbon and chromium.

 

D2/1.2379 offers excellent resistant to wear and abrasion and is used in long-run application when resistance to wear is required. D2 is machinable in the annealed condition. D2 shows minimal distortion during heat treatment.

 

D2/1.2379 has a machinability rating of 35% to 40% of a 1% carbon tool steel.

 

D2/1.2379 is sold in the annealed condition. Typical annealed hardness is BHN 217/229 Rc 17/18.

 

D2/1.2379 maximum working hardness is BHN 710 Rc 63.

 

D2/1.2379 is capable of meeting ASTM-A681.
