2.Status of the industry of China's grinding balls
Grinding balls are used for grinding ore blocks in an abrasive media , widely used in mining iron ore and non-ferrous metals processing plant , cement plants , power plants , refractory plants, steel mills , phosphate fertilizer and other flour mill industry . In this grinding ball milling ore block , while also continue to wear smaller, until failure , thus consume enormous.
At present , China's annual consumption of about 400 million tons balls , mainly cast iron ball , forged steel ball . Milling ball diameter size normally used for Φ20mm ~ Φ125mm, the maximum diameter of large ball mill use is Φ130mm ~ Φ150mm. Ball milling production process are: cast iron ball , forged steel ball, rolling ball .
3.Comparison of forged steel balls and cast iron ball
Cast iron ball technology advantages: simple equipment, low investment . Production technology and operation easy to grasp ; multi- standard , low-volume orders, arrange production easy and flexible.
Process Disadvantages : more casting defects ( holes, blisters , inclusions, surface cracks, etc. ) ; low density and a small specific gravity ; metals coarse grain , poor impact toughness ( generally 3 ~ 7J/cm2); high-energy, metal recovery low ; great Φ40mm casting difficulty following the ball .
Forged steel ball technology advantages: less investment , start fast , raw materials can be used both hot-rolled bar , can also be hot-rolled steel billet , billet length limitation , the production is easy to organize .
Process Disadvantages: difficult to stabilize production quality control ; artificial cutting , single mixed ; easily lead to the ball surface fold ; heating defects, oxidation and decarbonization , grain coarsening , and even overheating, burning ; final forging temperature, and quenching inconsistent quality ; hardness of the product , hardenability and toughness can not guarantee stability ; low efficiency and high cost.
